A Tribute to Taylor, the horse who started it all.....
On Tuesday, January 24 a horse named Taylor passed away after a long battle with cancer. Sixteen years ago Jaci Ackerman took Taylor in to her heart even though most people who saw him thought he could not possibly survive the day. He was so thin he could barely stand, but Jaci thought he had enough will left to make it and gave him a chance. Under her loving care he blossomed, gained weight and became her loving friend. She did Parelli with him, rode him in several demonstartions and events. Because of her close attachment to Taylor and overwhelming concern for those in his same circumstances Jaci founded the NC Equine Rescue League. HERO was begun by former members of NCERL. Taylor was loved in life and will be missed by all who knew him. If it had not been for Taylor a lot of horses would not have been saved!
HERO has tickets for sale!
We are doing a 50/50 raffle to raise money for surgery on a new horse in our program, "Lucky Man" who has a bone chip in his stifle requiring removal. He should be sound after rehab and available for adoption!
